Very nice! Concise and clear, just what's needed.
A couple of suggestions:
(Step 1) I don't think set_keep_mouse(1); has to be before set_mode(2); as some other D-Mods that use the mouse don't bother with this and they work fine, but I haven't done any testing.
(Step 4) Maybe mention that the button needs to be brain 14 to use buttonon and buttonoff? And I had trouble using them but they do work outside of the title screen, I think Cypry used them in his pillbug game.
