The "Win" in "WinDinkEdit" stands for Windows.
FreeDinkEdit can be used on Linux. It's not as nice but it still gives you the ability to make dmods. Though you may want to wait on starting that because it probably needs a slight fix regarding map files. That's about the only other option if you can't run windows. Though I suppose you could probably message Shevek and ask about using his python editor. I believe that can run on any OS provided you have the required python files. Though, I don't remember if his editor can release things as a standard .dmod file.
