Re: Midis and Sounds
Anyone know any good sites to get midis or sounds (.wav) files from?
www.mididb.com
I use them myself in "The War of the Ancients".

flashkit.com has a good selection of sound effects usually. You can get them in MP3, wav and some other formats.
I still need a few more. I need some that suit a desert kind of area. Some that suit a snowy area. Some that suit a grassy area. Some that suit a kind of muddy area. And some that suit a Beach kind of area.
But you said MIDIs without fully capitalizing it! Anyway, why? And thanks for reminding me about that file. I completely forgot that I had it! I don't mean it's mine. I just already downloaded it. Thanks!
I said it because I had to.
MIDI is the official abbreviation, not midi. just like it's GPL and not gpl (a license).

Aaaah. So you say MIDI. Not midi. Oops, I said midi. Oops, I said midi again! Oops, I said midi! oh what the heck! Stuff it!
Anyway, what's GPL. Never heard of it!
Thanks for Lauras MIDI heaven by the way!

Twas just an example, and I said it was a license.
Yeah, those are horrible. Better get the ones on http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/.
Thanks guys. And Kuhnegetz, if you wanna actually put a link, check the rules page. It tells you how to put words in italics and bold and how to post links. Or I could just tell you to use regular html script thingy.
Thanks for the hint, DinkDude95. This forum is kinda different from other forums I'm registered in, since I'm used to tags like [quote]insert text here[/quote] etc.
That's called BBCode, made especially for Bulletin Boards. TDN only supports b, i, u, url BBCode tags (or their HTML equivalents!).
EDIT: though I think [u]Underline[/u] wasn't supported, either.
See?

That's fine Kuh. (You mind if I call you that?)
Anyway, people round here call me DD95. Or just DD. Or just D. It saves alot of time and trouble.
You know this post started with Midis and sounds. And it got to us giving a newbie (No offense) tips! My goodness this site is weird!

If you have Google. (I suppose you have ) Find with ame: "Star Wars midis". You can find all the Star Wars midis from there.

Stuff you.
Thanks for the info Dertin!

I stumbled across a nice MIDI page while looking for Wario Land 1 remixes. Alas, I did not find many of those, but plenty of misc. MIDIs!

I had this great idea. You see, I've got a keyboard and it comes with about 20 songs (Without words) that I recorded onto my PC (using GoldWave) And I downloaded a MIDI converter (There! I said MIDI!) And I have converted all 20 into MIDIs! I'm planing to use them in FIT. (Frozen In Time)
I found an awesome site to get tonnes of sounds! Unfortunately I can't find any MIDIs. But there are a ton of mp3s, wavs, oggs, heaps of junk! And it's all good junk! It's got a really good layout to!
But unfortunately you need an account to download stuff. But that doesn't matter! Making one is easy and you don't have to pay or anything! Jus trecieve an email and activate it! It's awesome!
The site is http://freesound.iua.upf.edu.
Take a look at it!

Well look at that! I guess we should start reviewing previous posts before we post!

You mean you didn't do that already?

Anyone know how to record/make your own MIDIs?
By getting a MIDI editor. I know of exactly one, which is Cubase (very professional and very expensive). Just Google for MIDI editors...
I'll contribute another gem to this somewhat old topic. But then again, the >6000 MIDIs I'm going to post are pretty old, too.
6000 MIDIs collection
You might find more MIDIs at the main URL too.
EDIT: note that a few of these MIDIs sound messy/wrong. This is because those songs are probably pre-General MIDI, which means no real standard for instrument mapping yet. Says something about how old the MIDIs are, eh?

I found an awesome program to make your on MIDIs!! It is so cool! It's as easy as pie!! MIDI Maker, it's called. It contains a small help notepad document. It can create really good sounding MIDIs and it's simple! Although it's only a demo.
Here are some MIDIs, that can be fit into almoust every situation or area. They are from WWE, though. So pretty much people will maybe know them, but anyway, I just told you, cause they are pretty cool!
Cool, WWE midis... what makes you think they'd fit "every situation or area", though? I'm thinking end bosses and battles, more like
I have to say I'd be rather startled to walk into a goblin hut to hear a WWE theme. Might be fun to mess with people's minds... Kane would make a nice goblin.

Dude, you could've waited another two months before re-awakening a thread
Most of those sites look really amateur. Bright colours, bad layout.
But the DWMA, one of my all-time favourites. A link to my site is there.

Dude... they're MIDI sites. There's only one thing that screams "website built in the '90s!" more than bad colours, animated GIFs, and tables all over the place, and that is having a MIDI section.
Seriously... I've gone there.
