Help with installation
Windowed Mode / 32-bit Mode
Okay, so I copied the files from this bundle into my dink directory, and it doesn't change a thing when I try to run the Overlord demo. The graphics are all screwy (I'm assuming because the game won't display the colors). Any suggestions...I know I'm probably just being a ditz by not being able to figure it out myself, but I'd appreciate the help.
Well, it won't use the 32bit colours by default, you have to add some parameters to the program for it to be activated. You've got two options: using a command prompt or creating a shortcut on your desktop (or somewhere else) and then modify the shortcut.
Shortcut method:
- Create a shortcut to that new 32bit Dink.exe file
- Right click, then Properties
- Modify the Target path to make it look like:
"C:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\dink_32bit.exe" -game outlndr -truecolor -dinkpal
Here, the path is where you've got it installed, outlndr is the name of the D-Mod directory and the two parameters -truecolor and -dinkpal will activate the 32bit features to play the D-Mod normally.
Command Prompt method:
- Start
- Run
- Enter:
"C:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\dink_32bit.exe" -game outlndr -truecolor -dinkpal
Here, the path is where you've got it installed, outlndr is the name of the D-Mod directory and the two parameters -truecolor and -dinkpal will activate the 32bit features to play the D-Mod normally.

Thanks for the help. I was able to get it to work with the command prompt method.
Note to others reading this for help: It is best to manually browse for the .exe and then add the parameters at the end, because you may have named the new .exe something else. Also, make sure when you add the parameters at the end you specify the correct name for the dmod.
Example:
"C:/Program Files/Dink Smallwood/YOUREXEHERE.exe" -game DMODFOLDERNAME -truecolor -dinkpal

The new Dink_32bit.exe should be in the same directory as the original Dink.exe one, not in the D-Mod's directory. Then create a shortcut to that executable like I described and it should work. If you don't want to overwrite the old executable, just rename it like I did

1st Step:When asking for help, NEVER EVER post on a completely non-related topic, especially if it's a couple of years old. Prefer clicking on "New Topic" on the upper left of the screen, then choose what the topic is about, type in your question and click on "Submit" if you want to get a *proper* answer. It's too annoying not to do so.
