Windinkedit crash
WinDinkedit
The program seems to crash when I open the Sprite screen. I can open my ateam file with one tree, and then press E. I can see the trees. But when I press esc to go to the full sprite screen it crashes. I also tried other Dmods. When I select a piece of map, it crashes. It seems like it can't find the right sprites or something
Windinkedit is an easy program so I want to use it...
Hmmm, seems strang. You can go into Sprite mode "R", hit "E" and then when you hit "escape" the program crashes? It shouldn't - have you the latest DirectX drivers? Are you running XP, 32 bit mode display? What else is unique to your computer?
No it shuts the program down immediatly when I press E... I have XP, latest Direct X, and I use 32.. should it be 16?
You can use 32 bit mode, but it will run faster using 16 bit mode. And the bigger your dmod the more you'll notice this.
Try re-installing WDE, other than that, I don't know... try emailing WC and see if he can help

What? A crash? In my program? Never. zip the director yup and e-mail to me. WC@rpgplanet.com and I will find out why it is crashing.
I think it's just on my pc, because I download the one said above.. If I reinstall it it still won't work correct.. What file do you need?
Just zip up the entire d-mod folder you created and ship it over. Without all the files, it could be impossible for me to locate the crash.
I think you don't quit understand me. It's not with one Dmod. It's with every Dmod. If I wanne put a sprite on screen, (so I press E) it crashes...
what i think he means is for you to send him all the files associated with the windinkedit folder

How can you misinterpret this!?:

That's clear as a bell. He wants the created d-mod, zipped.

Windinkedit is not a Dmod, so if he wants me to zip that file he shouldn't name it Dmod. I thought he ment zip the dmod I used when it crashed, but it crashes with all the Dmods...

Send both... (The DMod you're editing and WDE)
The Dmod is :
Boating
Stone of Balance
etc.
In other words, any Dmod.
The WDE is the one downloadable from this site.

Yeah... so don't send him anything, just give him your system specs (and DirectX version), and anything else that might be unusual about your computer.
I've got the problems also, my pc gets really slow by pressing e but if you make the screen small it doesn't it's just that the pc has a lot of work at loading all the little pics in 32 bit mode... It's an already known bug...
It's not a bug, your system just doesn't meet the requirements for the resolution you are trying to run. If you crank your resolution down to 16, you will be using half the memory you use now and will speed thing up..or you could lower you resolution.
Remeber this formula.
(Length x Height x ColorDepth) / 1,000,000 = memory usage
If your memory useage is over the amount of memory you have on your video card, them you computer will use system ram which is 4 times slower (at least) then your video card.

Ok, I want these specs please.
-Video memory/video card
-System ram
-Current resolution and color depth
-Operating system
-DirectX version
Thanks, I will work on trying to figure out what is causing this crash..

-Video memory/video card - Nivida Gforce 2
-System ram - 512mb
-Current resolution and color depth - where can I find these?
-Operating system - Windows XP
-DirectX version - 9.0

800 X 600 pixels.
32mbit or 16mbit. (both crash)

This is not meant to bump the post, so shut your pie holes fruits.
I cna see no reason this would crash on you unless something in your dink installation is corrupted. The other alternative you could try is to reinstall your video card drivers or dirext X 9.0b
Sorry I can't be of more assistance but it's hard to detect these things with nothing to work with.

*nod of agreement* You may be surprised by how often a fresh reinstall magically fixes errors of death and doom. War3: TFT still drives me bonkers with its no-backup-CD crap, though, so I just used a crack for that.. but I'm wandering off-subject now.
And he's blaming us for getting off-topic , but about that, I still think it's just a bit to much for my video card or something...
yeah i hate that
on my pc there is a 19\20 chance that it will crash
on my pc there is a 19\20 chance that it will crash
wtf. There has to be a real reason the thing does it...humm..
Have you tried on a new installation? You can't really blame a piece of software if it doesn't have a sane operating environment.
i ran into quite a few of those bugs and crashes with v 1.4b of wde, so luckily i still had a copy of v 1.3 which works fine.
Isn't there a 1.3 version around? Cause when there is, I could test that one and see if it works...
