I'm back.
People might not remember me very much. But some will.
I'm back. Not that it's important, for dinksmallwood is almost dead.;(
And by the way, I think we should do something about dink. Perhaps edit anything in the original game on a new plataform, for the current one is still busted in 800x600 screen resolution.
This way, we'll never have new players. Someone should recode the most basic of the game. I can start helping with some snippets I have. Who agree?

I would if I could. But, I can't. I doubt anyone else would. You're not the first one to suggest this.
Already done by Seth when the I-phone version was made, I would assume.
Welcome back to the Never-ending Stonebrook.
Welcome back to the Never-ending Stonebrook.
Unless everybody migrate to I-Phones and start making D-Mods there, no big changes this was.
"Dink won't die for years, or I'll eat my hat".
Hi, welcome back. Too bad you're jumping on the Dink is Dying bandwagon; I don't really see it personally, but if you want to prevent it, creating a (quality) dmod wouldn't hurt.

Dink HD works on Windows and Macs too. It can be any resolution, though that itself is pretty meaningless, since the graphics are still the same 640x480 stuff, just scaled up.

Well scratcher, running in any resolution is meaningless when:
A) The graphics are the 640x480 scaled.
B) You can't do DMods such as in HD.
I may be wrong about be and that actualy be possible. Yet, A) is 100% right. Specialy because BOTH OF US agree with that!
And creating a HQ Dmod wouldn't hurt. But changing the resolution to a more ATTRACTIVE one wouldn't hurt either.

You can download D-Mods for DinkHD. You can browse from a few recommended D-Mods, install by the download URL, or just put it in the directory.
Oh no, they aren't just scaled! They've also got that "pretty" anti-aliasing filter that makes everything look.... fluffy...
B) is right. As Pillbug mentioned though, you can still play dmods with DinkHD, and you can always use FreeDink to create them if you have something weird like a mac. =) (As an aside, the amount of platforms Dink works on is nothing short of amazing - you can even play the game on freaking phones and PSPs)
I think DinkHD is as good as it gets as far as a facelift to Dink is concerned (although DinkHD could certainly be better. It could be not riddled with bugs, for one thing). If this isn't bringing legions of new fans to Dink, I think it's probably mostly just because the game is old... Any new people coming to Dink still need to have a certain appreciation for retro games, even if the original game gets pimped up.

It would be as meaningless as in DinkHD though, unless someone also created HD graphics for Dink. Besides, while I might not describe 640x480 as sexy, or even attractive, it totally has the cute factor going for it.

Oyyyy jah. Now just need the film grain effect for cinema-quality graphics.

The bugs in DinkHD is what's keeping me from porting my whole d-mod to take advantage of all the new goodies in it
7 years later, no one gives 2 ducks. no wonder you left again. what a non-existent community with non-existent effort.

Well, I happen to know that at least one dmod is currently under development that is slated to be released in the coming months.
