Let's play - part 1: introduction
Dinky Dimensions 1: FIAT
So here's the first part of the LP. My original post including warnings about bad quality is below. I'll record with better quality next time, but this recording will be three parts, so for the time being you'll have to suffer.
Part 1: Introduction (almost entirely cut scenes).
Old announcement:
I'll be posting links to the Let's Play I'm recording here.
However, this is the first LP I'm recording, and as could be expected, not everything went well. Yesterday I thought I had recorded a large part, but I was recording a different part of the screen. Today I did it again, but the quality of the video is not very good; it'll have to do for now, I should be able to get it better next time.
The audio, however, is pretty awful. So before I post anything, I ask you what you prefer:
1. My original commentary while playing.
2. New commentary done later.
3. New commentary done later by somebody else.
1 has the benefit that the game sounds and music are in there, but it sounds pretty bad (but it is understandable, so it certainly is an option). 2 has the downside that I should get a better microphone (I tried recording a new audio track, but it sounds bad, too). 3 would be cool, I think, but somebody needs to volunteer doing the recording.
I'm looking forward to your input!

Get in touch with Robj if you haven't already, he should be able to help you get set up to record an LP with the right settings depending on what software you're using.
For the most part we at DSPT all do our commentary during gameplay, so everything runs in tandem. The only times we haven't are generally during Robj's Enemy Encounters clips.

I've been wanting to make my own LP for a while (not on anything Dink related) but I don't know what programs to use. Anything you'd recommend using?

I'm a commandline person, so I use avconv to "convert" the screen output to a video file. If you want to use something graphical, I can't help you; I don't have much experience with gui grabbers.

Use magic. There's also technical jargen. I'd recommend magic though. Magic is fun, especially when you're shooting it out of you hands. That's when it's the most fun. Wait I take that back, shooting it from you eyes in the most fun. Lazerbeam magic is the best. Mostly because I've always felt like I need to shoot lazerbeams from my eyes.
Shevek, wow, I can't wait to see the results. You don't hang about do you? I think it would be great if it has your voice on it, more personal. Plus we get to hear what you sound like. Well done!
Part one is online now. Don't mind the sound and graphics quality.

I gotta concur, the video and audio quality is awful. As long as you improve it in future episodes, though, it's no big deal. I'd suggest just continuing with it. After you find your comfort zone, you may end up wanting to do this part again from scratch yourself.
