When Jacob is back home and I talk to him, the game freezes.

Found out, talking to Jacob isn´t necessary.
Later:
When I get killed by the spiders in the farm, the corpse either disappears or becomes that of a slayer.
The spiders reappear, after clearing out the farm.
The farmer doesn´t talk anymore after clearing the farm of spiders.

Now I know, why the farmer didn´t talk. The spider script increments a counter, when the spider dies (at least it looks like that. I don´t know dink scripts) and by killing some of the reappearing spiders, I seem to have brought that counter up beyond the "quest completed" value. I changed the script a bit and got to the end of the demo.
That's exactly what I said in the News Comments thread about Once a Hero.
