Crashing at the well

Whether jumping or lowering myself to meet the guys in the well, the game crashes. Any ideas?

After restarting the game 3 times and saving it in various places (and still ending up with 3 fireballs 
), I assume it's the end when I meet with the "bad dragon" named dramonic (or something). He says something stupid...then freezes....
