WinDinkEdit Crashing
WinDinkedit
WinDinkEdit is crashing when I click on a map square. I comes up with "... has encountered a problem and must close." Ive read all the other posts and it still crashes with 16 bit colour, lower resolution etc.
Was there a solution I missed? I'm running XP by the way.

I have tried running it under Windows 7. It changes my color scheme but it works fine. I think I found a problem with multiple sprite pasting but it didn't show up anymore.
Is this happening for all DMODs or a particular one?
All of them. I can get into a map if it is only black tiles (no grass, sprites) but if I press r then e to get to the sprites it crashes.
Hm, sounds like a file is corrupted somewhere. You should try reinstalling Dink v1.08 Aural+ and try downloading WinDinkEdit+ instead of WinDinkEdit.
Nope still doesn't work with either Windinkedit or Windinkedit+ with a clean install.
Hm, try running dink.exe before editing a DMOD? Install common driver stuff? Restart the computer? (out of ideas)
What's common driver stuff? Im fairly certain that I had Windinkedit working a while ago on this pc and I'm not sure whats happened since then (maybe that will mean something).
Thanks for the quick reply's.

same thing happens to me. i just use the old dinkedit.
Yeh, common drivers like DirectX and Visual C thingy. I'm all out of ideas at the moment. I had the exactly same error. I could zoom in to an empty square but it would crash when I moved to an edited one. It was probably my DMODs map.dat that was corrupted. Luckily I had a backup.
EDIT: Might be something wrong in your registry. Did you uninstall Dink Smallwood v1.08 correctly?

Update your graphics driver
It says that it could not find a better match for the hardware I have when I try update the graphics driver. Ive got an ATI Radeon HD 4800 series graphics card.
I just reinstalled my whole graphics card with the windows install / uninstall thing and everything works except for windinkedit. I'm sure it was working a few months back so has anybody got anymore ideas or am I doomed to using good old Dinkedit.
WDE isn't working? Would that be regular or WDE+ that's being a pain?
I had the same problem for a while, but it turned out that the graphics card was installed, but no drivers for it. Or the wrong drivers, anyway.
