This D-mod is a checkers clone.

Map and graphics: There is no load or title screen, just the play screen. The background, with the logo of Dink Smallwood, is moving which is annoying since it distracts the attention. The checkers are made nicely.

Music: There is no music, but I do not think that is necessary anyway with a board game.

Good: It still amazes me to see what can be done with the Dink engine.

Not so good: Double-jumping is not available. The author states that in the readme.txt, but I still think it is a shame, because that is an essential part of checkers.

Remark: It is best to read the readme.txt before playing, since the file explains how to play.
When I read the other review, I thought it was actually a game of chess, but it is not. Although checkers is nice too, I prefer chess.

Overall: Nice little game.

Fit for: If you like checkers, it is worth the download.

Dinkers is a multiplayer* chess game for the dink engine. If you don't know the rules of chess, you basically move your peices around a checkered board and try to jump over the other players peices. RedInk managed to write a engine based on script that do this!

Strengths: powerful use of the engine with limitless possibilities. Nice checkers interface that allows the users to play a nice quite game.

weaknesses: there is no double jumping, but I can see why it wasn't scripted in. There is no sound, but it be hard to find some soft conforting midi to go with this game. There are some slight glitches in the game, but I belive this is cause by the tweaks RedInk ahd to use in order to get the dink engine to function right with this game.

Overall: Great add-on, if dink were multiplayer over lan it would be better. If this engine can be improved upon, I think that RedInk should work on it, but in it's surrent state, it's still very amusing and nice to see what limits we can push the dink engine to.

*mulitplayer limited to one computer, to users have to use the same keyboard/mouse to play the game, but there is no way to make Dink multiplayer over the net without a major headache to both the user and author.

In this DMod you can play a game of checkers. It's programmed well enough but it has many errors such as: In Checkers you HAVE to jump a piece if it's possible and you can jump more than one piece per turn. But still pretty okay nothing specail though.

A revamp of the Dink Engine to play checkers, but without any computer A.I. at all. Which means the player will either have to find someone to play with or play by themselves.

I tried moving around and found the mouse selection aspect finicky, and it assumes once you’ve put your jumping piece down that’s the end of your move, even if you can still jump again.

Overall an interesting attempt, but not really worth downloading.
